Ivory Flame Remote Shoot

Last week I did a remote shot with Ivory Flame (IG:@ivoryflamemodel). I was here in Galway and she was in her home in the UK. I’m gonna do a more detailed post on the process of setting up to do this, but essentially her camera (a Canon 6D) can be attached to a computer and controlled by software (EOS Utility in this case). By using remote access software to control the computer, it meant I could see a preview of the scene and take photos. For us this remote software was Teamviewer, but you can do it via Zoom as well. I could also speak to her and see the wider scene. Any video app will do, but I prefer using Instagram on my iPad for a good viewing size.

I was able to use Preview on her Mac to see the photos, but these were still video transmission, so with her permission, I set up a shared Dropbox folder. The camera was set to shoot both Raw files, and Jpeg. The Jpegs were sent to the Dropbox folder and after a few seconds, I could view them on my own computer. The process is much slower, so you tend to refine the pose more before shoot, so while you shoot less photos, you actually get a higher percentage of keeper shots. I will definitely be doing this again.

The light here was just the morning light in her living room. The day was overcast, and the light was changing a lot, so constant change of settings was require, and of course easy to do in EOS Utility.
